Southern Artists and Galleries Sharpen Business Skills
Western North Carolina art organizations welcome the Arts Business Institute
Asheville NC Artists and art galleries from NC, TN, GA, SC, KY, and VA will hone their business skills at an upcoming Arts Business Boot Camp, March 7-8, 2009. Produced by the Arts Business Institute, a national nonprofit that provides arts-business educational workshops, the Arts Business Boot Camp will offer business seminars designed specifically for artists and retailers.
Addressing the fundamentals of marketing for artists, all the seminars will be presented by artists and gallery owners cognizant of 2009's economic uncertainties and of strategies for coping with them. In addition to these seminars, which are essential to any artist's business, one-on-one mentoring sessions are available as are ample opportunities to ask questions and network with the ABI faculty, staff and other artists.
"Today's artists and art galleries face stiff competition from big-box retailers" says ABI executive director Meghan Bunnell. "The Arts Business Boot Camp will give them the insight and inspiration they need to take their arts business to the next level."
HandMade in America, and Haywood Community College will sponsor the two-day workshop.
Artists and galleries interested in attending the workshop can register online at www.ArtsBusinessInstitute.org.
About the Arts Business Institute
Arts Business Institute (ABI) was founded as a 501(c)(3) organization in 2002 to serve a crucial, common need in the art and craft making communities practical business education for creative entrepreneurs. ABI originated through the seeds of the Craft Business Institute, an annual weekend education program for craft professionals in Baltimore, Md., managed by The Rosen Group.
In building a new educational model, the Arts Business Institute board of directors recognized the need to deliver support to a wider range of artistic media in underserved segments of North America. This has presented ABI with the opportunity to speak to artists in locations ranging from Toronto to Orlando.
